about Collidium

Collidium is a experimental rock band from Melbourne, Australia,
playing atmospheric, melodic songs with an infusion of metal and ambient styles

Collidium started as a concept for a fictional story about a new element, a rare metal. This description works equally well for the music Collidium write and perform; songs strange, dark and experimental, which do not fit into easy categorisation.

Collidium have been performing as a three piece over the last 3 years, with

Julian Langan-Fox on vocals / guitar, Nigel Cadzow on bass and Chris Daniels on drums.  They are joined by Jen Alyce on keyboards / vocals and Jeremy Maher on guitar.

From initial experimentation and recording on a four-track recorder, songs have been mixed, re-recorded, added to and finally performed.  The songs tell stories of wars past and future; epic soundscapes describe history written from different motives; tall tales of vampires to modern songs of finding love and living with loss; of sorrow, hope and redemption.  The drives behind human behaviour, emotions and motivation are central themes.

tomorrow's sounds today"
